EarthCanvas : Journal of Earth, Space and Society
Volume 1, Issue 1, October - December 2025

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we present the inaugural volume of EarthCanvas: Journal of Earth, Space & Society, a multidisciplinary platform committed to fostering high-quality research across environmental, scientific, social, and cultural domains. As a double-blind peer-reviewed journal, we strive to uphold rigorous academic standards while encouraging innovative and socially relevant scholarship.

The collection of papers featured in this issue reflects the essence of our mission. The study on the nutritional fortification potential of bamboo (Dendrocalamus strictus) shoot powder offers a promising avenue in sustainable nutrition, emphasizing the value of traditionally overlooked natural resources. Equally impactful is the research on flood monitoring in Khammam, where multi-temporal SAR data and geospatial analysis provide vital insights into land-use dynamics and disaster resilience.

Environmental sustainability is further explored through the examination of the CPA plantation and its influence on the microclimate of adjoining areas in Bhopal, contributing significantly to our understanding of ecological interventions in urban spaces. Addressing a challenging social concern, the paper analyzing the victim offender relationship and attitudes toward premarital sex among convicted rapists sheds light on psychological and sociological dimensions that demand continued dialogue and reform.

Our issue also presents an inspiring case study, Turning Trash to Treasure, which highlights Madhya Pradesh’s innovative waste management practices an exemplary testament to how science, governance, and community participation can converge to create meaningful change. Finally, the inclusion of a Hindi paper on the contribution of Bengal’s women to the freedom movement and women’s empowerment enriches this edition by honoring cultural diversity and historical depth.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all contributors, reviewers, and readers for supporting this academic endeavor. We look forward to continued scholarly engagement in future editions.
